Parent Coaching
Practical, supportive sessions for parents and schools who want to better understand a child’s needs, school support options and next steps. £50/hour with tailored packages available around the following topics
Parent story and current concerns –Â The parent explains what is happening at home and school: behaviour, anxiety, meltdowns, school refusal, friendships, learning, sensory needs, sleep, attendance, exclusions, or communication with school.
Child profile – Build a simple picture of the child’s strengths, needs, triggers, communication style, sensory profile, emotional regulation, and what helps them feel safe.
Understanding school support – Explain what the school’s SEN Support offer should look like, including the graduated approach: assess, plan, do, review. This can include reasonable adjustments, IEPs/support plans, sensory strategies, nurture provision, pastoral support, behaviour plans, reduced demand approaches, and communication systems.
Reviewing what is already in place – Look at school reports, behaviour logs, attendance records, emails, SEN plans, assessments, or professional letters. Identify what is working, what is missing, and what evidence may be useful.
Practical home strategies – Give parent coaching around routines, emotional regulation, low-demand communication, transitions, sleep/morning difficulties, sibling impact, anxiety, boundaries, and reducing conflict at home.
School communication plan – Help the parent prepare what to say to the class teacher, SENCo, pastoral lead, or headteacher. This may include drafting key questions, preparing for a meeting, or agreeing a simple action plan.
EHCP guidance where relevant – Explain when an EHC needs assessment request may be appropriate, what evidence is useful, who can apply, what the process looks like, common timelines, and what to expect if the local authority refuses to assess or refuses to issue.
Action plan – End with a clear written or verbal plan
